1) Click to any place in the text area where no formatting is applied.  (End of the line will do)[[BR]]
2) Click the Bold icon.[[BR]]
3) Start typing[[BR]]

This is also the case with Italic, Underline, Strike-through, Subscript, Superscript, Background Color, and Foreground Color from what I've tested.

Selecting text and applying these styles does still work, however.
