Description (last modified by Jakub Ś)

Go to the demo in IE9 and enable SCAYT. Now try using your mouse to highlight a line of text. After a few characters/words it will stop and bug out. It also bugs out using shift + arrow keys to highlight.

Also reports of this happening in ff, but I haven't been able to reproduce that one.

https://github.com/WebSpellChecker/ckeditor-plugin-scayt/issues/30

This bug can be reproduced only when user uses backward selection. And no problem with forward selection.

@SpellChecker.net I have just checked the issue and it seems no longer to occur. Can you confirm that you have done something on your side or you are still able to reproduce the issue?

Still same issue in IE.

Load the demo, enable SCAYT and then select some text and the selection will get "stuck" after a random amount of characters/words.

Got it.

  1. Open CKEditor demo.
  2. Enable SCAYT
  3. Put cursor behind gains grandmother's house and gains^
  4. Start making the selection from right to left (I haven't managed to get the result when making the selection from left to right) using mouse or SHIFT+ArrowLeft

Result:
When using mouse the selection will stuck.
When using SHIFT+ArrowLeft the selection will stop at certain point and start to decrease. When it reaches the point where it has stopped it will start to increase again.

Correct. Except my selection stops no matter which direction I'm selecting from. (left to right or right to left). I have tested it on ie9 and ie8 and both have same issue.

WebSpellChecker.net performed initial steps to work more correctly with the selection, but the problem still actual.

This is also an issue in Chrome 20

This was reproduced on CKEditor's demo.

Visit ckeditor.com/demo Delete all content of demo Type or paste the following "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." Immediately select from end to start of the sentence. Notice how the selection is smooth and reliable. Delete all content and enable SCAYT Type or paste the following "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." Immediately select from end to start of the sentence. Notice how the selection is jumpy and fails numerous times. NOTE: A larger paragraph may be useful to better exhibit the problem.

NOTE: This does not seem to matter if you are using your keyboard or mouse.

NOTE: This only seems to affect selecting backwards

I'm having the same issue on IE10 / CK4.2 / SCAYT. Just open CKEditor's demo, select the second paragraph and activate SCAYT. As scayt scan text, the selection got shorter.

NOTE: don't matter if you select from left to right or from right to left.

@SpellChecker.net could you perhaps leave some comment here? Users keep asking from time to time about this issue. Can this be fixed easily on your side?

This issue is still present in new SCAYT release. To fully experience this issue open Massive Inline editing sample (inlineall.html), edit area with Fusce vitae porttitor headline, enable SCAYT and try select something. Tested with IE10@Win7.

Please ask on https://github.com/WebSpellChecker/ckeditor-plugin-scayt/issues/30. Ticket on CKEditor's side is just for reference.
