I've seen this already in action in the FCKeditor (http://wolfcow.andrewtite.com/admin/editor8.html) and would be a great enhancement to the editor.

This is a DUP of #602, which makes a reference to #612, which already pointed EditArea as an option for this.
I see this one as a doable plugin for V3.
