#1536 closed New Feature (duplicate)

For all browsers, make table cells selection working just like in Firefox

Reported by: Peter Ertman Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: General Version: FCKeditor 2.4.3
Keywords: Confirmed Cc:

Description

  1. Open FCKeditor (any version) in IE (any version)
  2. Create a small table
  3. Left or right drag down a column -- selects everything

Note: This works correctly in FF (where only the column cells dragged over are selected)

Sorry if this has been reported before, tried searching but didn't find anything.

If there is a workaround, I would love to have it. My users are complaining about this! (And we can't use FF at work, don't ask <g>).

Summary: Unable to Select Table Column in IE (any version)For all browsers, make table cells selection working just like in Firefox
Type: BugNew Feature

All table selection features are handled by the browser itself. Firefox has a nice feature where cells can be selected individually.

IE, Safari and Opera instead has no cell selection at all. It just select the cell contents as any other text selection.

This is something we can't workaround. Actually a complete selection system should be developed just to satisfy this missing feature.

Hello!

I'm using FCKeditor 2.5.1 with IE6. I've noticed that it's possible to select only contiguous cells (aligned by row or a consecutive following "row rules", even if they are in different rows), I think it's the problem mentionned in that ticket. And indeed it's possible with Firefox. I'm interested in knowing if something may be done about that point or not, and for which version.

Thank you!
