NOTICE: The release of FCKeditor 2.8 has been canceled. Our development efforts will be totally concentrated on CKEditor 3.0. now.

This release is under Beta stabilization.

This is a bug fix release.

This is a bug fix release.

CKEditor is the next generation of FCKeditor. It is to be written from scratch, bringing the definitive browser based editing solution to life.

Check out the features implementation status? our visit the Open Development Effort documentation site for more details.

This release is intended for two major improvements and bugfixes also.

  • Decouple the Connector from the server-side file storage. I.e. the developer will be able to upload and maintain files in an arbitrary location. See ticket #28.
  • Provide a locale resolver to localize tag and connector messages. See ticket #2361.

We are in straight collaboration with Opera Software to make their browser compatible with FCKeditor.

This milestone will be used to group tickets relative to the compatibility of FCKeditor with Safari. Once we'll announce the compatibility, the milestone will not anymore exist, and all Safari bugs will be moved to the normal tickets system.

We are working together with the developers of Safari's core software, named WebKit, to fix both sides. It means that not only FCKeditor must be fixed, but also Safari needs fixes to be able to work properly.

  • Bug fixing release for browser compatibility issues (IE8 mainly).
  • Introducing SCAYT in FCKeditor.
  • Remove deprecated code and skim methods
  • Add separate input name attribute in JSP tag
  • #4377: New testing environment.
  • #4379: New powerful pasting system and word cleanup procedure.
  • #4378: Features alignment with FCKeditor 2 (partial).
  • #4210: jQuery plugin.
  • #2872: PHP server side integration (SSI).

This is an urgent release mainly targeting a Firefox 3.6 incompatibility with the ColdFusion SSI (#5104).

  • #4502: Full ARIA support.

Status update: this milestone have already reached it's maximum number of tickets. No new tickets should be added to it, with exceptions. In fact, several tickets may even be re-targeted for future releases.

This release contains few fixes introduced to stabilize CKEditor 3.3. This is supposed to be a upgrade safe release.

NOTE: This release is under Beta stabilization. We're not any more accepting tickets into this milestone.

Other than the usual bug fixing, we're planning bringing the following new features into this release:

  • #5909 : New BiDi feature, to support switching language direction on text blocks.
  • #5737 : Full support for contenteditable="false", making it possible to define read-only blocks.
  • #5268 : Port the DragResizeTable plugin from version 2, making it possible to resize table columns with the mouse.
  • #4606 : Port the AutoGrow plugin from version 2.
  • #979 : Make it possible to navigate through table cells with the TAB key.

Check out the code now from the 3.4.x branch, or from the trunk for bug fixing only.

Note: This milestone is frozen. The final tests are being run for public release. No further tickets are to be accepted, except for confirmed regressions.

This is a bug fixing and stabilization release for the 3.4.x series.
