Permanent Pen feature

In Lotus Notes, there's a featured called the Permanent Pen. You can set the style of the pen and when it's selected, you can write with that style anywhere in any document regardless of the document's formatting, where it came from, etc.

This looks the similar to 'Text Highlight Color' in MS Word except MS Word only allows setting color.

The feature sounds interesting thus I'm confirming it. I'm not sure however how hard it will be to implement it. We would need to set style for pen/highlighter (this could set different cursor like in MS Word) and apply it on 'mouse up' event provided that selection isn't collapsed.
