Version 3.3 added support for preserving heading structure when creating a list item. Would be nice to also preserve structure when creating list items from paragraphs.

By generic standard recommendation, do mean any of the HTML DTDs ?

We know that the basic W3C DTDs allow blocks into <li>. What I'm trying to say is that this could be considered only if we confirm that it's a public and well adopted "recommendation" to always have block elements inside <li>.

I understand. Is this something that could still be added, perhaps as a configuration option that is default set to the current public recommendation ?
I see this as an acceptable thing only if there is a generic standard recommendation for having block elements inside <li>.
